Meghan has played violin since the age of 4, and was taught through the Suzuki method. At the age of 7, Meghan began intense training to become a professional violinist. She has taught violin lessons since the age of 15, beginning at two music studios in Northwest Indiana (Perdicaris Music and O’Day Music Studio), and continuing to teach in Chicago and Bloomington. Her teachers have included world-renowned violinists and teachers, Rachel Barton Pine and Cyrus Forough. Since her early training in classical violin, Meghan has learned Irish fiddle, old-time and bluegrass, and folk and fiddle improvisation techniques.
Meghan is a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA), Suzuki Association of Indiana, (SAI), and the American String Teachers Association (ASTA). For beginning violin students, Meghan utilizes the Suzuki method of teaching and is working toward Suzuki teacher certification.
Meghan began learning piano at the age of 10 and continued studying the instrument through college. She enjoys many varied genres of piano music. She enjoys teaching beginning piano students of any age.
Meghan earned a degree in Ethnomusicology from IU in 2007, and learned Zimbabwean mbira and marimba from Dr. Sheasby Matiure, while studying at IU. She has been the director of the Wadzanai Marimba ensemble since 2018, builds Zimbabwean marimba, and teaches Zimbabwean marimba workshops and lessons.
Meghan has also been a professional DJ for over 20 years, performing on turntables at events and clubs throughout the Midwest since 1999. For more about Meghan’s musical life, see her website:
